Our assessment philosophy aligns seamlessly with the progressive guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). We believe that assessment is not merely about assigning marks but is a continuous process designed to understand each student's learning journey, identify strengths, provide constructive feedback and foster holistic development.

Components of Our Assessment Structure

Our assessment framework is carefully designed for each stage of schooling, incorporating both internal and external (Board) components where applicable.

1. Internal Assessment (For all Classes, with increased weightage as per CBSE)

Internal assessments are crucial for continuous monitoring of student progress and contribute significantly to the final evaluation. These typically include:

• Periodic Tests (PTs): Regular, short assessments conducted throughout the terms to gauge understanding of recently covered topics. Designed to include a significant percentage of competency-based questions (e.g., case-based, source-based, integrated questions) as per CBSE guidelines. Help students habituate to examination conditions and receive timely feedback.
• Subject Enrichment Activities: Engaging activities conducted in each subject to enhance practical skills, creativity and deeper understanding.
• Notebook Maintenance & Submission: Evaluates the regularity, neatness, completion and organization of student notebooks, reflecting their consistent effort and work habits.
• Multiple Assessment Methods: A variety of tools are used, such as quizzes, assignments, class discussions, debates, presentations, role-plays and group activities, to assess diverse skills and learning styles.
• Portfolio Submissions: Students compile a collection of their best work, showcasing their progress, creativity and understanding over time. This can include projects, assignments, creative writing, artwork, etc.

2. Annual/Board Examinations (For Classes X & XII and internal examinations for other classes)

These examinations are designed to assess the overall understanding and application of the curriculum covered throughout the academic year.

• Question Paper Design (as per latest CBSE pattern for Classes IX-XII):
  Competency-Based Questions: A significant portion (e.g., 50%) of the paper will consist of questions that test conceptual understanding, critical thinking and problem-solving, including case-based, source-based and integrated questions.
  Objective Type Questions: A percentage of the paper will include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and other objective formats.
  Constructed Response Questions: Short and long answer questions that require detailed explanations and analytical responses.
• Practical Examinations/Project Work (for relevant subjects): For subjects with practical components, external and internal practical examinations or project assessments are conducted as per CBSE guidelines. These assess hands-on skills, experimental understanding, research abilities and presentation skills.
